About Me

I provide psychodynamic psychotherapy to adults and adolescents, and have experience seeing patients struggling with relationship, gender and sexuality issues; job stress; anxiety; depression; eating disorders; and trauma. I also have a significant interest in working with adult children of narcissistic or emotionally unavailable parents and healing from these experiences. As a former journalist who wrote extensively about social issues, sex and dating, relationships, body positivity, race and LGBTQ+ stories, I practice therapy through an anti-oppressive lens and from a platform of deep compassion and empathy.
I got my master's in Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and my bachelor's from Sarah Lawrence College. I studied psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Training Institute for Mental Health and completed a year-long internship with the National Eating Disorders Association.
I believe the relationship between therapist and patient is the foundation of progress. Ready to get started? Let's make some progress together — here's how to reach me.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is your approach to therapy?
I'm here to help you make sense of the most important and significant pieces of your life so we can incorporate them into the narrative of who you are. My approach is validating yet challenging, warm yet accountable. Therapy is hard work but it can also be joyful, vulnerable, and exciting. Most importantly, it's about creating a relationship with you that is honest, affirming, and reciprocal.
What can I expect from working with you?
Over time, my patients and I identify patterns in their lives that may or may not be serving them. Often these patterns started in early childhood and continue into adulthood, showing up in ways that we may not have previously realized. Together we look for ways to address those patterns, whether by changing them, or learning to accept them. From awareness comes accountability, and therein lies growth.
How much is therapy?
My regular rate is $175 per session for individual therapy. However, I never want someone who needs therapy to be put in a situation where they feel financially burdened by it, so I do reserve some time slots in which I see patients for a lower, sliding-scale rate depending on need. Please reach out if this is something you would like to learn more about.
Do you accept insurance?
I am in-network with Aetna, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Oxford/United, and Oscar through Headway. If you have an insurance provider other than the ones listed here, contact your plan to see if they offer out-of-network coverage for mental health services and I can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you see patients in person?
My office is in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan and I see patients there two days a week. Please let me know when you reach out if you're looking for in-person or virtual therapy sessions.
Are you taking new patients?
I currently have a couple of openings in my practice — please contact me for the most updated availability and to see if we would be a good fit for working together.
